Q1: Can you somehow increase the image resolution?
#iPhone7 I have a perfect picture for the cover art on Spotify, unfortunately Spinnup tells me that the quality of the picture is not good enough. Since I would really very reluctantly want to take another picture, I need your help. How can I improve the resolution or is it even possible? The picture was taken with an iPhone 7. So I'm actually surprised that the quality is not good enough, according to Spinnup. Is it enough if I increase the DPI online or does that have nothing to do with the resolution? For info: I had to increase the amount of pixels. The picture was previously 750 X 750 pixels, but had to increase it to 3000 X 3000, as that is the upload requirement for an image at Spinnup. Could it be that by increasing the amount of pixels that the image has lost quality? I can't tell the difference with the naked eye.
A: If you have sold the picture from 750 * 750 to more than three times, you can almost certainly throw the quality in the bin. Even with the best program, you can't achieve a result. Photoshop has very good, bicubic routines, but even PS never gets such an extreme enlargement without clearly visible losses. It's just not technically possible. Too many pixels have to be "invented" - no tool in the world can do that. You have to check the picture as much as possible to see whether you can get the picture larger by copying suitable (more geometric or at least very clear) picture elements. But even there, 300% is really a lot.
